Pranic Healing: I'm No Shrinking Violet!
By John Ortiz, edited by Jonathan Atleson
Part of my evolution was realizing that you could achieve physical healing through energy work, but so could a lot of other modalities. You could get a massage, you could get a chiropractic adjustment, attend a yoga class, work out at the gym, and also achieve physical healing.
So I concluded that it really wasn’t that big of a deal to simply chase a person’s physical pain; but if you could figure out the cause of the pain, then you were really on to something. Let’s say you had a tightness in your back, and after a session it felt better. But after a couple of days the tightness came back. You haven't addressed the original reason for the issue, so you haven’t really improved health.
For an allopathic analogy, let’s say you had a headache and took a painkiller. Your headache eases and you feel less pain. But the pain didn’t go away…you are just less aware of it because you blocked the pain receptors.
So I concentrated my efforts into finding the root cause of various physical ailments. I soon realized that the common thread was not in the physical domain, but rather the mental/emotional arena. People had traumas and fears, and these factors were underlying the physical ailments, above and beyond any original injury.
So I started focusing on cleaning the mind. Could I find a way to alleviate these traumas or reduce their effect? By setting my intention this way, and appealing to my spiritual guidance as I practiced my craft, my clients started reporting increased serenity and happiness.
One day, as I’m working in this vein, the psychologist on staff at MDI heard about my work. With an intense energy, he approached me and asked, “Are you John Ortiz, the energy healer?” I said, “Uh yeah. Who are you?” “I'm doctor so-and so, and I'm the psychologist on staff.”
I thought to myself, How come he knows about me, but I don't know about him? In the words of Bugs Bunny, What's up, Doc?
But I simply said, “What can I do for you?”
He says, “Uh…well…we have seven patients in common that we're both working on. And these patients are changing faster than I've ever seen patients change. I want to know what you're doing!”
I said, “Well, you may find this hard to believe, but I think I’ve found a way to clean the mind.” He gives me that look. You know, that incredulous stare of the skeptic.
I started laughing, and he says, “Why are you laughing?” I replied, “Because that's the way I would have looked before I'd experienced what I've experienced and done what I've done.”
At this point he became even more intense. He got up in my face and challenged me. “You really think you can clean the mind?”
I said, “No, Doc. I know I can clean the mind. But more importantly, I can teach people to clean their own mind and thus empower them in their own healing.”
He couldn’t believe it and wanted to experience it. So I put him in a chair and proceeded to work with the crystals on him. Within five minutes, he's fallen asleep, tears streaming down his face.
After the half-hour session, I gently woke him up and asked, “Doc, how do you feel?” He whispered, “Oh my God…I’m so calm and peaceful! How did you do that?” I said, “By God's Grace.”
He asked how long the feeling would last, and I said it depends on the individual. Some people get one session and that's all they need. With others, five minutes after the session they revert back and it's like you didn't do anything!
Then he exclamed, “Let's work together and change the face of psychology!” But a voice inside me said, You know, there are powerful forces in the world of Medicine and they don't want the face of psychology changed.
I said, “I appreciate the offer, but just as you're focused on the mental/emotional component of healing, I'm just as much into the physical component. And the one that really lights me up is the spiritual component: making people more peaceful, loving, and compassionate. Helping them to be more successful in their careers or something by tapping into a divine source for inspiration or protection.”
He says, “Well, you know, I appreciate what you're sharing. But you have a standing job offer whenever you want it.”
Good Stuff bro
